A KUTATÁSI EREDMÉNYEK SORSA ÉS HASZNA AgEcon
Szucs, Istvan; Jarasi, Eva Zsuzsanna; Erdeine Kesmarki-Gally, Szilvia.
The economic development is generated by the continuous technical and economic innovation, what should be based on high level basic and applied research activity. For these reasons applied research based on high level may lay foundations. The utilization of the result of basic research may mean a lasting economic benefit. A country needs him for this for well-funded one to be, has to pursue a research-developmental activity with suitable intensity. Currently the intensity of R&D activity is very diverse in the world's countries, the R+D proportions of expenditures to GDP are between 0.8 and 5.0 %. The low research intensity is typical of the poorer countries, generally. Big efforts are put onto the increase of the efficiency of the research and...

Biro, Szabolcs; Kapronczai, Istvan; Szekely, Erika; Szucs, Istvan.

Over fifteen years have elapsed since the transition from the centrally planned economic system started in the early 1990’s. During this time agricultural and rural areas of Central and Eastern Europe have undergone profound structural changes with wide variations in the degree of transformation and in the rate of success in creating a competitive market and private ownership based food and agricultural system. By becoming member of the European Union the "transition" in its traditional interpretation has been concluded in ten of the Central East European countries. The transition to market based agriculture, however, is far from completion in Southern and Eastern Europe and especially in the CIS countries. International Association of Agricultural...

Answer to the challenges of the 21st century in the Hungarian pig sector AgEcon
Balogh, Peter; Ertsey, Imre; Szucs, Istvan.
Whether particular countries, regions within countries, and particular societies gain or lose in the process of globalization depends on where they are in the process of agricultural transformation and to what extent they can adjust? The Hungarian pork chain faces considerable disadvantages in several aspects as opposed to competing countries. In countries with developed meat chain a powerful concentration could be observed, whereas in Hungary, although disintegration has not increased, decentralization still prevails. In our research the operation of the co-operative was modelled as a generalized network problem in 2008. The model allows the quantification of the number of pigs from given farms to slaughterhouses, the maximum revenue from sales, the...

Az agrárkutatás-fejlesztés GDP-re gyakorolt hatása az EU országaiban AgEcon
Szucs, Istvan; Mohamed, Zsuzsanna; Takacs, Szabolcs.
A függvényszámításaink alapján a következő összegző jellegű megállapításokat tesszük: • A C-D típusú függvények jól alkalmazhatók az általunk vizsgált termelési tényezők hatásának megközelítő mérésére. • 2000-ben a mezőgazdasági eszközállomány, 2007-ben pedig a mezőgazdasági munkaerő játszott nagyobb szerepet az agrár GDP előállításában. Ebben főleg annak hatása érződik, hogy közben jelentősen javult az élőmunka technikai fejlettsége, a munkaerőben nagyobb tudásanyag halmozódott fel, a termelési tényezők között felértéke¬lődött a szerepe. • Az agrár K+F szerepe a GDP képződésében 2000-ben 11%, 2007-ben 14% körüli, tehát a fejlesztési törekvések lényegesek az agrárgazdaság fejlődése szempontjából. A módosított termelési függvények segítségével kimutattuk...

Az agrárkutatások helyzete és a fontosabb tennivalók AgEcon
Szucs, Istvan; Mohamed, Zsuzsanna; Takacs, Szabolcs.
Az agrárkutatás-oktatás kiemelt társadalmi feladat. Az innováció olyan tudatos emberi tevékenység, amely a technikai-gazdasági fejlesztések minden területére kiterjed, s célja új javak és szolgáltatások új módon történő előállítása a tudomány eredményeinek közvetlen felhasználásával. Eredményorientált tevékenység. A gazdasági növekedés motorja. Hazai viszonyok közepette az agrár K+F+I területén a...

CONSUMPTION HABITS OF "FREE RANGE CHICKEN" IN HUNGARY AgEcon
Tikasz, Ildiko Edit; Szucs, Istvan; Stundl, Laszlo.
Poultry is highly ranked in the World meat production and consumption (it accounted for 32% in 2007), and, in the past 20 years it was growing with an annual rate of 3–6%, higher than in case of any other meat-types. This tendency is also valid for Hungary: poultry has the largest share (29.8 kg/person/year, 47%) in the domestic meat consumption since 2000, which is among the EU top (KSH, 2007). As the result of the animal health and nutrition scandals, the EU animal welfare and quality requirements and the advancements in health consciousness the Master-Good group launched the production, processing and trade of free-range poultry under the brand "Free-range chicken". The new products had good consumer responses, because at present 1.5% of the processed...

EFFECT OF AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ON THE GDP OF EU MEMBER STATES AgEcon
Mohamed, Zsuzsanna; Takacs, Szabolcs; Szucs, Istvan; Bedene Szoke, Eva.
Scientific research, together with technological development and innovation, is a key issue of knowledge-based economies. Having recognized this important role, the European Union has identified the increasing of its research budget to be one of its most important aims. The objective of the common programming of agricultural research is to examine the extent to which society is able to answer the challenges resulting from the Community-level development of renewable raw materials. Joining in the spirit of these endeavours, the aim of our research is to analyze the links between agricultural R&D expenditure and agricultural GDP in the EU member states, relying on the Eurostat database. Our computations were made using constant prices of 2000. The...

Role of state administration in updating land-estate and farm-size conditions AgEcon
Fekete-Farkas, Maria; Molnar, Jozsef; Szucs, Istvan.
The structure of land estates and farm-sizes are the basis of a competitive agricultural production, hence these questions belong to the evergreen themes both of theory and practice also on international level. In Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs), the change of political and economic regime virtually tore into the agriculture in beginning of 1990s, destroying the existing structure of land estates by the privatization, restitutions or restoration of ownership rights resulting in fragmentation of land ownership. Over the past 10-15 years this situation has not undergone any fundamental changes. Due to economic and political situation in the transition countries market forces can not function as primary engine for land consolidation. For that...
